Our 2022 Priorities

1. POLICE LEGITIMACY RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Policy & Systems Change Committee

  • 2022 activities include community engagement to prioritize policy suggestions, procedural justice trainings, finalizing a community led policy agenda, and creating recommendations and accountability mechanisms for law enforcement.

 

2. TRAUMA INFORMED CARE/ SAFE SPACES FOR YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS

  • Youth Safe Spaces Taskforce

  • 2022 activities include launching and publicizing the VPC Youth Safe Spaces Pop Up Event grant funding in partnership with the City of St. Louis using ARPA funds and making grants for safe spaces events

3. RESPONSE TO NONFATAL SHOOTING

  • Service Delivery Committee

  • 2022 activities include publicizing the Gun Violence Response Network available services and expanding mental health supports for victims and community residents that have experienced gun violence

4. SUPPORTING EVIDENCE BASED PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

  • For example, Cardiff Model for Violence Prevention, Cure Violence, & Readi Chicago

  • Violent Injury Prevention Committee, Evaluation Committee

  • 2022 activities include mapping of hospital and police data on violent assaults, creating neighborhood profiles, staffing Cure Violence Steering Committee, and coordinating social service partners.

 

5. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

  • Community Engagement Committee

  • 2022 activities include leadership and capacity-building content for community members, technical assistance for neighborhoods who want capacity-building to lead and refine their own violence prevention efforts

 

6. ENGAGING MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTS IN VPC'S ACTION PLAN

  • Municipal Engagement Taskforce

  • 2022 activities include identifying and reaching out to municipalities to coordinate violence prevention efforts with the VPC regional action plan
